You can also create a free account at factorio.com and then head to your profile page where you will find directions on how to link it to your Steam account. It is strongly recommended to create the account with the same username you have on Steam already.

Yes. For Linux servers there is a free lightweight dedicated headless server package. You can get it from the headless download page. For Windows servers the normal Windows game package from the download page can be used as a headless server. Run Factorio.exe --help for more details.

The game has a very robust multiplayer system, allowing for up to 500 players in a single game. We are continually working on improving the Multiplayer, and we currently support a matching server allowing people to publish their servers and list other running games.
